Some events in Nagoya ask a lot of people before they even begin. Sketch Party Nagoya does the opposite.

Usually held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, this recurring night at HopBuds in Minami Ward brings people together to draw on shared canvases, have a drink, and spend a weekday evening doing something a little more engaging than going straight home. The format is simple: pick up a pen or marker, add what you like, and let the drawing change as other people add their own lines, characters, patterns, and ideas. There is no formal instruction, no workshop atmosphere, and no pressure to prove that you belong anywhere in particular.

That is part of what makes it work. Some people arrive knowing exactly what they are doing. Others have not drawn anything in years. It doesn't seem to matter much.
