Join the Ham Jam at Cedar’s Fri, Dec.26
If it is the fourth Friday at Cedar's Music and Drink that means it is time for one of Nagoya's most welcoming events - The Ham Jam! This month's session falls right after Christmas—on Friday the 26th, when everyone's looking for somewhere to shake off the holiday pause before New Year's .
If you haven't caught Ham Jam yet, it's the monthly open jam that's turned into something reliably warm and inviting: musicians who actually gig around town mixing with people trying their first open mic, playing whatever songs the room wants to hear. No auditions, no hierarchy. Just a shared song list and whoever wants to play.
The official name is the Hamster Jam—named for founder and drummer Adam Demby (aka The Hamster!) He's still behind the kit most months, keeping the rhythm.
The December 26 session offers a chance to relax and enjoy the pause between Christmas and New Year's with people enjoying a moment of genuine community.
The Rythm
Show up with an instrument, join in to sing or just come to listen. There's a song list everyone works from (this month: everything from Beatles to Bruno Mars to Spitz), but it's flexible. Want to suggest something? Tell the hosts. Want to play one song then sit down? That's fine. Come with a friend, your band or just come alone. Everyone is welcome.
The hosts—Kurt Samson, Krissy Diggs, Masahide Goto, Luka R. Sumiyoshi, and Adam Demby on drums—keep things moving without making it feel managed. They know when to let a jam stretch and when to bring in someone new.

December's Mix
This month's list covers ground: rock standards, funk, some jazz, Japanese favorites, even some Yoko Kanno. What actually gets played depends on who shows up and what instruments are in the room.
That's the point.
